About therapy

What is therapy?

Therapy is a collaborative process between you and your therapist, offering a safe and non-judgemental space to share. Sessions help identify the patterns keeping you stuck and work toward fulfilling future goals.

Who can attend therapy at Lyra Singapore?

We provide in-person and online therapy services to children, teens, adolescents, individual adults and couples, plus educational and nutritional support.

Is therapy right for me?

Yes. Therapy can help improve relationships, overcome insecurities and fears, cope with stress and develop communication skills — beneficial both during challenging moments and for ongoing self-improvement.

How do I find the right therapist?

Lyra Singapore uses a multidimensional team of customer service staff and expert therapists to ensure your needs, preferences and goals are met.

Why is it so important to find the right therapist?

A therapeutic alliance between client and therapist is core to a successful outcome. Strong alliances help clients become more productive and better equipped for life's challenges.

Can I change my therapist after the first session or midway?

Absolutely. Discuss any concerns with your therapist or our customer service team, and our staff will work with you to find a therapist who may feel better suited to you.

What if I need to be referred to a psychiatrist?

Your therapist can recommend psychiatrists from among the panel we work closely with, and will collaborate with them to support you.

Sessions & preparation

Is any preparation needed for the first session?

No specific preparation is required, but please arrive 20 minutes early if your forms aren't completed digitally. Bring your contact information and consent forms, and check in at Unit #09-12.

What should I expect from my first therapy session?

During your first 50–60 minute session you'll meet the therapist matched with you. They focus on getting to know you, defining the goals of therapy and building the relationship. You'll determine meeting frequency together and can evaluate the fit.

What can I expect from an ongoing session?

Your goals are your road map to treatment. You can adjust them over time, and our team is always available to hear your feedback and support you.

What will be the frequency of my sessions?

A typical recommendation from most of our therapists is weekly sessions, at least initially. Frequency varies by case and person.

How can I provide feedback about my sessions or therapist?

Our customer service staff will ask you to fill out a confidential online survey after the first session. You can request more surveys anytime or write directly to the Clinical Lead. Feedback stays confidential unless you authorise disclosure.

Availability & scheduling

How soon can I see a therapist?

We endeavour to ensure that you are seen by a therapist within 24–48 hours.

Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?

Yes. Appointments run from 8:30am to 8pm Monday to Friday, and 8:30am to 7pm on Saturdays. Some therapists also work on public holidays.

How do I schedule my first appointment?

Contact us by phone, email or WhatsApp. Customer service will have a preliminary chat to understand your challenges, then match you with a therapist and book you in within 24–48 hours.

How do I schedule ongoing appointments?

Once you've met your therapist, you can schedule subsequent sessions that work best for you — therapists can hold regular slots weeks in advance.

How do I cancel or reschedule?

Email your therapist or contact customer service. We require a minimum of 48 hours' notice, or you may be charged unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Online therapy

Do you offer online therapy and is it right for me?

All of our therapists offer online therapy and it works for the vast majority of clients — including for depression, anxiety, stress, work challenges, parenting, relationships and separation. Face-to-face may suit specific psychiatric issues or very young children better.

Is there a difference between online and face-to-face therapy?

It's largely a matter of personal preference. Our therapists ensure the therapeutic work is aligned with your needs, whether sessions are online or in person.

How is your online therapy different from international platforms?

Our platform is based on a hybrid model. Therapists are credentialed and experienced; local administrative support handles bookings, payments and queries; and therapists work closely with the local team for referrals or transitions to face-to-face care.

What is the booking process for online therapy?

The same as face-to-face booking, except intake and consent forms are sent for completion before the appointment.

What online platforms do you use?

We predominantly use Google Meet and Skype, and accommodate platform preferences where possible.

How do I prepare for online sessions?

Find a private, quiet and comfortable space, ensure a stable and fast internet connection, arrive five minutes early, enable your camera and microphone, and check your device's battery.

Can I move from online to face-to-face sessions?

Yes. All therapists are part of one team, so you can request a change anytime. If your therapist feels you'd benefit from meeting in person or need a referral, they'll work with the team to ensure a smooth transition.

Fees, payment & insurance

How much will I pay for sessions?

Our fee for an individual 50–60 minute session ranges from $250 to $300 (inclusive of 9% GST), depending on the therapist. Reduced fees are available for unemployed or very-low-income clients.

What are the payment modes?

Cash, cheque, NETS, credit cards (VISA/Mastercard), online transfer or PayNow. Bank details: DBS Bank account 008-904103-7, Swift DBSSSGSG, UEN 201609686G.

Is direct billing with insurance possible?

Lyra Singapore is registered with many major health insurers. Check with our customer service team about your specific plan's coverage.

What is your cancellation policy?

You can cancel up to 48 hours before your scheduled session without a fee. If you cancel within 48 hours, the full fee applies unless there are extenuating circumstances.
